MECC Attends the Opening of "A Glimpse of Chinese Culture" Exhibition
On 22 August, 2026, the "A Glimpse of Chinese Culture" exhibition officially opened its doors at Porto’s iconic São Bento Metro Station. The inauguration event brought together community leaders, including Jorge Valente, president of the Macao Sino-Luso Friendship and Cultural Exchange Association and Echo Chan, president of the Macau European Chamber of Commerce (MECC). This milestone gathering marks a fresh chapter for the landmark project, celebrating a robust three-year editorial partnership between Portugal’s Diário de Notícias and the Macao Daily News.
Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Macao Sino-Luso Friendship and Cultural Exchange Association, and beautifully curated by Sara Neves, the exhibition transforms one of Porto’s busiest travel hubs into a vibrant cultural crossroads. The display brings to life a joint weekly column published since September 2023, weaving together compelling stories, traditions, and historic ties. Through unique textile installations that echo the history of Chinese silks and the sails of Portuguese ships, passersby are invited to stop, learn, and discover the deep-rooted intercultural dialogue connecting Portugal, Macau, and China.
The exhibition is open daily with free admission until 12 September, 2026.
