MECC 11th Anniversary Reception - Dec 17
On 29 November, the MECC celebrated our 11th anniversary with more than a hundred members and friends at a reception at Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16.
The reception was officiated by Mr Yang Quanzhou, Deputy Director-General of Economic Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao SAR; Mr Vincent U, President of the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute, representing the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Lei Wai Nong; Mr Cheong Chok Man, Director of the Policy Research and Regional Development Bureau; Mr Lei Sio Sang, acting Head of Research, representing the Director of the Economic and Technological Development Bureau, Mr Tai Kin Yip; Mr António Lei, Director of Economic Development Bureau of Hengqin.
Other Guests of Honour were: Mr Alexandre Leitão, Consul General of Portugal in Macau and Hong Kong; Ms Jennifer Bourke, Consul General of Ireland to Hong Kong and Macao; Mr Danilo Alfonso Henriques, Deputy Secretary-General, Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao; Mr Matthias Kaufmann, Deputy Head of EU Office to Hong Kong and Macao; Professor Paulo Canelas de Castro, Director of the Institute of European Studies of Macau; Dr. José Luís de Sales Marques.
Mr Leitão and Dr Ambrose So delivered opening remarks as our Honorary Chairmen, live and by video respectively. Mr Rui Pedro Cunha, President of our Board of Directors, gave the final speech. They reflected on the challenges and opportunities in Europe-China relations, and our work in the context of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Macao SAR.
